At this stage, the leadership
team has generated a new strategy and elevated
itself to a much higher level of cohesion,
trust, honesty and alignment. Team members
have authentically committed themselves
to bringing the organization to a whole
new level of performance - along with a
whole new culture and way of working with
one another. The goal of this step, then,
is to get the rest of the organization on
board - i.e., fully embracing the new direction
and culture.
We engage the next layers of management,
in sequence, in a structured process that
covers similar ground to that taken with
the senior management group. Just like their
superiors, managers raise context issues
and express background doubts, concerns
and frustrations with their peers and bosses.
We provide managers with powerful approaches
to challenge the status quo, create novel
solutions and think about their team members
and the future in new and more productive
ways. This process equips managers to get
beyond the past and fully embrace the plan
the leadership team has created, i.e., the
Strategic Vision and Strategic Promises,
with enthusiasm.
Employees are brought on board as well.
Depending on the size and structure of the
organization, we customize a process that
applies the same principles we use with
the senior leaders and middle managers.
This gets all employees fully engaged in
addressing content and context issues. In
addition, they learn other methods for being
bold and courageous in fulfilling the new
direction. They leave these sessions enthusiastic,
energized and eager to make a difference.
