Culture Audit
In order to help an organization go to the next level, we need to understand its current culture, dynamics, challenges, opportunities and blind spots. To that end, we interview the entire senior team of the organization, as well as a cross-section of managers, employees and stakeholders. We typically ask about areas such as performance, quality, service, customers, culture, communication, teamwork, trust, leadership and collaboration.
The interviews are confidential. We focus on the key areas that are limiting and impeding organizational effectiveness. They enable us to fully stand in our clients' world, in order to facilitate and coach the work with greater relevance and effectiveness. They also enable us to prepare the client for the breakthrough work ahead, as well as to build the credibility, trust and relationship needed for effectively consulting, coaching and facilitating the breakthrough process. Typical questions we ask include:
- What are the key challenges and opportunities your organization faces?
- How cohesive, aligned and trusting is the senior team?
- Do people have each others' backs and do they own each others' success?
- How open, honest, courageous and effective is communication?
- Is there a clear compelling vision and strategy that everyone in the organization is on the same page about?
- To what degree do people understand and believe in the overall direction and objectives of the organization?
- How well do departments, functions and geographies partner, communicate and collaborate?
- How political is the organization?
- To what degree are people able to raise, address and rapidly resolve difficult issues?
- What are stakeholders/customers most pleased and frustrated about?
This process is highly customized; we tailor questions for different organizations based on their specific challenges and opportunities.
At the end of the interviews we provide our clients with a succinct, effective and honest report a Cultural Audit with powerful and useful insights into the current condition of the organization, plus what is needed for the team to step up to the next level.
