Executive Coaching

Even the best athletes in the world have coaches. The coach's role is to observe behavior and provide advice, direction, instruction and insights that enable the player to significantly improve performance and results.

When coaching leaders and executives, we always start by helping them clearly articulate their personal vision, objectives and commitment in all key areas that are important to them, such as their team, peers, boss, stakeholders and career. We then observe their behaviors and actions in the work environment, at times by "shadowing" them briefly, as well as interviewing people around them - team members, peers, superiors and stakeholders. We establish a very trusting relationship with them. Through deep insight into their strengths and weaknesses, we are able to provide the most powerful, relevant, customized and impactful coaching.

Through one-on-one coaching, leaders achieve significant breakthroughs in their ability to communicate and interact with their subordinates, peers, superiors, stakeholders, partners and customers. We coach them in real time and help them step up in key leadership areas such as honesty, courage, accountability, teamwork and communication. As a result, they are more effective in fulfilling their accountabilities, dealing with challenges and opportunities, and generating results that are beyond expectations.

The coaching empowers, enables, motivates, inspires, and drives the leaders to step up with greater courage, conviction and accountability, beyond their comfort level. It compels them to achieve greater results and make a bigger leadership difference in elevating others and in succeeding in their initiatives.

When working with senior leadership teams, we often simultaneously coach many or all team members. We work behind the scenes, as needed, to cause a higher level of communication and collaboration and to teach the leaders in real time how to empower others, hold each other to account and work effectively in the accountability model. Our coaching, in addition to the work with the team as a whole, supports the leaders to leverage the impact of their leadership by contributing to the larger overall vision, agenda and commitment of their organization, rather than merely focusing on their own regional or functional agendas and success.

The people being coached always become and appear as stronger leaders in terms of their ability to listen, communicate, inspire, motivate and coach/mentor others. This is very evident. In fact, the most powerful and effective leaders — usually also those less controlled by ego and the need to "look good" — are the ones most eager to take advantage of one-on-one coaching. We custom-design the coaching process with each leader and executive. With some, it is an ongoing process with predetermined meetings and calls. With others, the process is more periodic and ad hoc. A coaching process is typically conducted through different channels — face-to-face, via phone, on video conference and through email, once our relationship has been well-established.
