Gaining Trust

July 9th, 2010

The only thing harder than gaining trust is losing it and trying to regain it. If employees don’t believe their leaders are sincere, they will have serious doubts and fears about the new direction, particularly if it calls for layoff and cost reductions. The will also question just about everything else said about the strategy, including the very need for it. They will continuously feel leaders are in it for themselves, and they’ll wonder, “What’s the hidden agenda? What is not being said? What’s really going to happen?”
